Hervey Bay

Hervey Bay is small on sky scrapers, but big on experience.

This Queensland seaside town is a favourite with locals - who flock to town during their holidays to take advantage of the calm waters of the Great Sandy Strait... and to head out on Fraser for a little 4x4 fun

If you've got a thirst for adventure, love water sports and the great outdoors or feel like taking a little time out from your hectic travelling schedule, then this is the place for you.

Getting Here

Hervey Bay, Fraser Coast, Fraser Island...
so many places... so many ways to get here!

Conveniently located at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, Fraser Island is a mecca for four-wheel-drivers, backpackers and for nature lovers.

And, just a few nautical miles across the Great Sandy Strait marine park, lies Hervey Bay - a town that's fast gaining a reputation as the adventure capital of the Fraser Coast... in fact Greyhound Coach Services have just voted it one of the best destinations in Queensland.

Fraser Coast / Hervey Bay Airport is located just ten minutes from Hervey Bay's Esplanade and is serviced daily by Qantas and Virgin Blue Flights - with connections from major capitals. This regional hub is also home to Air Fraser Island (charters to Fraser Island and beach joy flights) and to a flight service to Lady Elliot Island.

Queensland Rail operate regular train services from Brisbane (in the south) and Cairns (in the north). The nearest station to Hervey Bay is Maryborough West, with connection transfers into Hervey Bay town available. Book your tickets (and don't forget to book your connection transfer) on 13 16 17.

Greyhound and Premier Motor Services are just two coach companies which service the region - with daily several services arriving from both the north and south. For a smaller local operator, try Tory's Tours (+61 7 4128 6500) which operates between the Fraser Coast, Brisbane Airport and Brisbane's CBD (Roma Street Transit Centre).
